I tried your suggestions, and, after rebooting both machines and reinstalling the printer on the network computer, that the same problem is still occurring.

Also, I noticed that on the network computer the bidirectional support box is greyed out and off. Even though that computer can now change some settings because now everyone can manage the printer it can't check the check box. I thought that this discrepancy might be contributing to the problem. Install the driver and check if it helps. Try the Printer troubleshooter, which will attempt to automatically diagnose and fix your problem. Open the Printer troubleshooter by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel.
