Samsung sc-140 cd-rom driver

I have poured over the installation guide, the FAQs and searched online and have found several reasons why this may be happening. Another is to check if DMA is enabled. I do not know how to check any of the installation parameters. I cannot even get a command line prompt after the boot process starts and I don't know how to pause the boot process so I can even read the screen to see what it is doing.

I am fairly certain that it is recognizing the CD-Rom at some level because I can see "Samsung" flash by when it is booting. Post by chrismortimore » When you boot the CD, it'll give you the Debian splash screen and a prompt that says "boot:". If you type "expert" and hit enter, it'll give you a menu of options instead of firing away with the installation.

From here, you can very easily access a console. Now, I'm just about to go out to the shops, but if nobody else has posted here by the time I get back, I'll fire up the etch installer myself and see what we can do for you.
